Our Top Areas of Expertise

LANAP®

Short for Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure, LANAP is a minimally invasive method for treating periodontal disease. Dr. Cataldo uses the PerioLase® MVP-7™ with LANAP laser treatment to eliminate bacteria and diseased tissue, leaving your healthy gum tissue intact. With this innovative FDA-approved treatment, you’ll experience less discomfort and bleeding and faster healing.

Dental Implants

Dental implants in Raleigh, NC, are screw-like posts fabricated from biocompatible titanium or ceramic that replicate the function of natural tooth roots. Dental implants are the only permanent tooth replacement option and unrivaled modern solution for fully restoring function and aesthetics. That said, choosing a skilled implant expert like Dr. Cataldo is essential to achieve the best outcome and reduce the risk of complications, whether you receive a single implant, dental bridge, or removable or fixed implant-supported denture.

Full Mouth Dental Implants

Full mouth dental implants in Raleigh, NC, are designed to look, feel, and function like your natural teeth—without the many issues associated with traditional dentures. With All-on-X full mouth dental implants, at least four denture implants are placed in each arch to support new teeth. After they fuse with your jawbone, full mouth dental implants prevent bone resorption and associated facial changes, allowing you to chew food properly and speak clearly.

Root Coverage

Gum recession is a dental condition characterized by gradual gum tissue erosion surrounding your teeth. This can expose more of the tooth root surface and lead to tooth sensitivity, pain, and even tooth loss when left untreated. We offer minimally invasive gum recession treatment using soft tissue lasers and the innovative Pinhole® Surgical Technique™.

Bone Regeneration

Jawbone deterioration is common if you’ve lost one or more teeth because natural tooth roots provide ongoing stimulation to keep your underlying bone healthy. Dr. Cataldo has advanced training in the latest bone grafting techniques to replace or augment missing bone around your teeth. In addition, when he drills a hole for a dental implant, he harvests the small amount of removed bone matter and packs it back to enhance implant healing and integration.

Common Question We’re Asked About Dental Implants

A dental implant comprises three parts—a titanium or ceramic post, an abutment, and a restoration. Built to function like natural tooth roots, dental implants provide bone support and a stable foundation for a single dental crown, a dental bridge, a denture, or a full arch prosthesis.

Many patients are already candidates for dental implants or can qualify after receiving preparatory treatments like bone grafting and tooth extractions. Candidacy is more accurately determined after comprehensive consultation and evaluation with an implant dentist.

The cost of dental implants is based on many factors, including how many teeth are missing and for how long, the materials used, and what additional procedures are needed. Our team can help you apply for dental financing and will file insurance claims on your behalf to help you afford treatment.

Dental implant treatment can range from a few months to over a year. In many cases, implants can be surgically placed soon after the consultation and treatment plan are complete. For patients needing bone grafting, this may be a separate procedure requiring several months of healing before dental implant surgery. After dental implants are placed, healing can take three or more months before optimal integration is achieved, and a final restoration can be permanently attached. In many cases, patients can wear a temporary restoration during healing.

Dental implants are designed to last for decades and potentially last for the rest of your life! Surgical technology, clinical experience, and your health habits ultimately affect the longevity of your implants. Choosing an experienced implant team like ours at Periodontics and Dental Implants of North Carolina will provide you with a much more precise and accurate surgery, which will better guarantee the long-term success of your treatment.
