"A Hockey Accident Changed My Life…"

Ceramic Dental Implants Deliver Life-Changing Benefits

Suppose you’re struggling daily with diminished oral function and are too embarrassed to smile due to failing or missing teeth. In that case, it’s time to restore your smile and quality of life with surgical-grade titanium or zirconia dental implants in Durham, NC, Raleigh, NC, and Morrisville, NC. Zirconia implants are a versatile option because they can replace a missing tooth or stabilize a bridge or full arch prosthesis. While dental implants are the number one tooth replacement solution, not all implant solutions or practices are created equal, and only a limited number of implant dentists offer ceramic dental implants!

When you choose Periodontics and Dental Implants of North Carolina, you’ll be treated by a skilled periodontist and zirconia dentist with nearly 30 years of periodontal and implant expertise. We use the best materials, including MIS® and Astra Tech implants made of surgical-grade titanium, Zirkolith® ceramic dental implants, and restorations fabricated from BruxZir® solid zirconia. Our team must deliver a clinically superior and affordable dental implant experience, so we make a concerted effort to be in network with many insurance plans and offer competitive pricing and dental financing .

What are Dental Implants?

A dental implant has three components that work together to replace a missing or failing tooth. The biocompatible zirconia implant post is surgically placed in your jaw bone. A small piece called an abutment is placed on or built into the top of the implant to connect to the restorative dental crown. After zirconia implants integrate with your underlying jaw bone and you receive your restoration, you’ll be able to eat, smile, talk, and laugh with newfound confidence!

Z-SYSTEMS ‘ Zirkolith dental implants are fabricated from biocompatible ceramic, so they’re less susceptible to plaque buildup than typical titanium dental implants. This reduces your risk of peri-implantitis, gum disease, and severe health issues related to untreated periodontitis. Many of our patients prefer Zirconia implants in Durham, NC, Raleigh, NC, and Morrisville, NC, due to their allergy-free non-metal composition, comfort, and natural aesthetics.

The Incomparable Benefits of Dental Implants

Our Dental Implant Options

Single Implants

A single dental implant consists of a post, abutment, and crown that work together to replicate the function and look of a missing natural tooth. Whether you get a titanium or ceramic dental implant at Periodontics and Dental Implants of North Carolina, the post must fully integrate with your underlying jawbone before the crown is attached.

Dental Bridges

With traditional bridges, two healthy teeth must be modified and crowned on each side of the missing tooth or teeth. Implant-supported bridges don’t rely on or require modification of adjacent teeth and offer better bone health preservation. With an implant-supported bridge, a common approach is to replace the two outermost missing teeth with dental implants to support the false tooth (pontic) in the center.

Implant-Supported Dentures

Implant-supported dentures provide far greater stability and functionality than traditional dentures. An implant-retained prosthesis improves your speech, minimizes discomfort, and eliminates the need for messy denture adhesives. Depending on your preference, the denture can be designed as a removable overdenture with several different attachments or a fixed prosthesis.

Full Mouth Dental Implants

All-on-X full mouth dental implants require a minimum of four strategically placed implants per arch to restore function and aesthetics fully. This All-on-4 to 6 protocol variation enables our periodontist to place additional implants if you need added stability to support new teeth. All-on-X is an ideal tooth replacement solution, whether you need to replace an entire upper or lower arch or are completely edentulous (toothless).

A Dental Experience Crafted Just for You

Consult and Planning

The first step is an in-depth consultation with our periodontist to determine the condition of your jawbone and whether traditional titanium or zirconia dental implants in Durham, NC, Raleigh, NC, and Morrisville, NC, are the best option. The initial evaluation includes discussing your dental and medical history, digital X-rays, and a cone-beam computed tomography scan to analyze your bone structure, nerve tissue, and sinus cavities. We believe in transparency, so we’ll discuss all the steps involved in dental implant surgery and provide an accurate cost estimate.

Implant Procedure

After making a small incision in your gum tissue, a dental drill creates space in your bone to surgically insert the implant posts in predetermined locations. If you suffer from dental anxiety and desire IV sedation, we work with a board-certified dentist anesthesiologist who administers conscious sedation, thereby ensuring your dental implant surgery at Periodontics and Dental Implants of North Carolina is safe and comfortable.

Healing and Final Restorations

After surgery, bruising, swelling, and some localized pain can usually be managed with over-the-counter pain relievers and should start to subside about three days after surgery. Titanium implants take three to six months to integrate with your underlying jaw bone, while Zirkolith implants can fuse in as little as 4-6 months. If your implant requires an abutment after the fusion process, our periodontist opens your gum tissue to expose the implant and attaches it. Once your gum tissue heals, you’ll be fitted with a single crown, bridge, or full mouth prosthesis.
